One of the problems that I see in information design is that sometimes it is really hard to deal with the data that has an emotional response to it. This is a nice comparison of the sizes of the areas affected during various floods or other natural disasters, however, it really appears emotionless. Why not putting them in order according to the size either? See the graph here.
